“For me, how I take care of myself, my home, my work, all impact my child’s upbringing. So I take the time I spend without him as mindfully as the time we spend together.”

“We need more options for women to rely on women,” she says. “Being stuck in a box, where you feel like you need to do it alone, is killing us.”

“In 2017 I was asked to be part of a special project for Solange Knowles Guggenhiem performance. Using her album, A Seat at the Table, as our muse, a room full of Black women writers shared what her work meant to us. Our collective stories were then bound and given to Solange as a gift.”
